Job Title: Delaware Senior Trust Officer
Job Responsibilities:
The Delaware Senior Trust Officer (Delaware STO) at the company is responsible for maintaining and administering a trust book, providing Delaware Trust Law expertise to national markets. The role involves collaborating with national Private Bank teams and ML fiduciary advisors to achieve strategic objectives for PWM markets. The key responsibilities include:
- Working with clients, attorneys, and other professional advisors such as co-trustees, investment advisors, accountants, distribution advisors, and protectors to understand comprehensive estate plans and provide superior client service.
- Responding to requests from beneficiaries, including requests for discretionary distributions, and preparing discretionary distribution requests by outlining dispositive provisions and other relevant language in trust agreements.
- Minimizing account risk by analyzing trust documents, performing annual account reviews for compliance with trust provisions, state and federal regulations, and adhering to trust policy and procedures.
- Communicating with investment advisors, portfolio managers, and financial advisors regarding investment matters and liquidity needs.
- Coordinating with the Account Opening Group to open trust accounts and interpreting governing instruments to ensure proper setup of account records, including payments, fee schedules, and tax records.
- Ensuring effective coordination with the company’s Tax Team, fund managers, and clients’ personal tax preparers for timely completion of applicable tax returns.
- Contributing ideas to improve systems and processes to deliver the best possible service for clients.
- Mentoring junior associates to assist with their growth and development.
- Adhering to the company’s core values of delivering together, acting responsibly, realizing the power of people, and trusting the team.
Education and Experience Information:
The desired qualifications for the Delaware Senior Trust Officer position include:
- A minimum of 7 years of trust experience.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, or equivalent experience.
- CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor) or JD (Juris Doctor) is preferred.
