Job Title: Law Reform Legal Intern - Fall 2025
Job Responsibilities:
The Law Reform Legal Intern will engage in various aspects of the organization's law reform work, depending on the specific needs of the unit to which they are assigned. Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting legal research and factual research
- Interviewing clients
- Participating in discovery and trial practice as opportunities arise
- Contributing to legal papers, policy memos, or legislative testimony
- Engaging in impact litigation, policy reform, coalition building, and public education strategies
- Working within one of the specific units, such as the Prisoners’ Rights Project, as per the intern's preference and organizational needs
Interns are expected to rank their preferred law reform units and will be matched according to their experience and the needs of the organization.
Education and Experience Information:
- Applicants must be 2L or 3L law school students in good standing
- Interest in issues affecting the rights of the organization's clients, particularly those relevant to the prioritized unit(s)
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues
- Initiative to see projects through to completion
- Commitment to racial and social justice
Salary Information:
This is an intern position and does not offer a salary. However, interns who meet eligibility criteria may receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. This stipend is awarded to 4-5 interns annually through a lottery system, aiming to support those who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship at the organization. The stipend is taxable.
Stipends & Benefits:
To be considered for the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend, interns must:
- Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution
- Complete the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form at the time of submitting their internship application
- Ultimately be accepted to participate in an internship program at the organization
- Demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship
- Submit a statement reflecting a strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation

- Required documents include a cover letter and resume, submitted as a single combined PDF
- Applicants should specify one or more law reform units of interest in their cover letter
- Applications are considered on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged
