Locations and Divisions Available for Internship Placements

- Civil Division (Springfield location only)
- Litigation Section
Why Choose an Internship at the Attorney General's Office?
At the Attorney General's Office, we believe in providing our interns with a valuable and enriching experience. Our internship program is designed with three main goals in mind:
1. Real-World Experience: Our interns are given projects and assignments from the start of the program, providing them with real-world work experience and the opportunity to develop skills that are transferable to many areas of practice within the legal field. From writing briefs to conducting interviews, our interns are given a preview of what it's like to work as an attorney.
2. Future Employment: We use our internship program to identify and cultivate the best and brightest minds for our incoming Class of Assistant Attorney Generals who are dedicated to public service. By hiring students as interns, we are able to begin the onboarding process earlier and offer full-time positions to interns upon graduation and admission to the Missouri Bar.
3. Training the Next Generation: We view our internship program as a way to provide students with valuable knowledge and experience in the legal field. Mentorship is highly valued and our interns are assigned to a supervising attorney who serves as their main point of contact throughout the program. Feedback from mentors is encouraged, and we strive to provide our interns with guidance and support throughout their projects.
How to Apply for an Internship at the Attorney General's Office
Our internship program primarily focuses on law student interns, but we also offer opportunities for undergraduate students. Most of our internships take place during the summer, but placements are also available during the fall and spring semesters. Our internships may be paid and/or used for school credit.
On-campus interviews are conducted at all four Missouri law schools (University of Missouri – Columbia and Kansas City campuses, Washington University, and St. Louis University) and a variety of other law schools. For out-of-state students, applications can be submitted through our website. For more information on application deadlines and interview dates, please for additional assistance.
