Job Title: Fall 2025 Law Clerk
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and draft motions and memoranda.
- Engage in case planning and investigation.
- Coordinate with witnesses and prepare for trials, hearings, and sentencings.
- Work closely with attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and other support staff to provide comprehensive defense for clients.
- Participate in trial preparation and witness preparation.
- Assist in providing client-centered and team-based representation.
Education and Experience Information:
- are eligible to apply for the Law Clerk positions.
- Law clerks are expected to gain substantive skills, written work product, and real case experience.
Application Process:
- Law clerks join the organization three times a year: winter, spring, and fall.
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through a centralized process, but final selections are made by the district offices.
- Candidates should indicate their interest in the Juvenile Law Clerk Program on the application and specify their preferred offices for consideration.
- The organization has offices throughout the State of Maryland, and candidates are encouraged to be specific about their placement preferences.
- Only the Montgomery County and Baltimore City offices are accessible via public transportation.
Salary Information:
- These are unpaid volunteer positions.
- The organization supports externs seeking credits for their work and sponsors grant or other outside funding applications where applicable.
Note: Opportunities may be virtual or modified due to the ongoing pandemic, and law clerks may receive support for externship credits or funding applications.
