Job Title: Managing Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
The Managing Attorney will oversee the operations of the organization's offices in Show Low and Fort Apache, located on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. They will represent clients in various civil cases across state, federal, and tribal courts. Additionally, the Managing Attorney will supervise the daily activities of both office locations, ensuring effective legal representation and office management. The role requires travel to other communities, including those on the Apache reservation, to fulfill organizational obligations.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of legal experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Membership in the Arizona Bar or willingness to pass the next bar examination is essential. Those licensed in another jurisdiction for at least two years may practice under a special rule. The candidate should either be a member of the White Mountain Apache Reservation Bar or be willing to become one. Experience in legal services is advantageous. A high degree of sensitivity to issues facing the low-income community is crucial, along with the ability to work effectively with low-income and community groups. Candidates should exhibit initiative, strong communication skills, and the ability to function well in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in general civil practice and criminal defense in tribal court is required, particularly in representing the low-income community. The ability to speak Apache is considered beneficial.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is between $58,656 and $101,915, depending on experience, with an additional Management Premium of $10,000. There is a possibility of up to 5% additional compensation for individuals fluent in Spanish. The organization provides financial assistance for attorneys managing law school loans.
