Environmental Associate Attorney (1-7 years)
Location: Walnut Creek, and others in Bay Area (Hybrid working)
Salary: Depending on experience, starting from $180,000+ and bonus
A well-established AmLaw 200 law firm with a progressive and forward-thinking culture is expanding its Los Angeles office and seeks a talented associate with 1–7 years of experience in environmental and/or public agency law. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team known for advising on high-impact matters across the state, particularly in water law and related regulatory, transactional, and litigation work.
What We’re Looking For:
You’re a practical, solutions-oriented attorney with a strong interest in public or private sector work involving environmental or issues relating specifically to water. Experience in transactional work, counselling, or litigation - particularly involving public entities - is highly valued. Bonus points for prior experience within a government agency or in strategic communications (perfect position to transfer into private practice law).
Relevant experience may include some of the following areas:
- Water law, water rights, and the Clean Water Act
- Brown Act and Government Claims Act
- CEQA and environmental compliance
- Eminent domain, real estate, or public finance
- Legislative and regulatory drafting
- Public contracts, procurement, prevailing wage, and construction law
The Ideal Candidate:
- Between 1-7 years of experience in a similar role
- (Preferably experience within a government agency)
- Thrives in a collaborative team environment
- Has strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Is eager to work side-by-side with senior attorneys on high-profile matters
