Associate General Counsel - Office of the General Counsel at Reputed Firm
**Members Only** (APU) is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our prestigious Office of the General Counsel. In this role, you will work closely with the General Counsel & University Integrity Officer to provide high-level legal service to the University. You will be responsible for advising the Administration on a wide range of legal matters, including counseling and advocacy, compliance, and policy development. This position also requires seamless integration of mission and faith elements into all work, in line with our Statement of Faith.
To be considered, you must have a . from an ABA accredited law school and at least 10 years of legal experience, with a focus on Higher Education. You must also be a member in good standing with the State Bar of California. Experience in nonprofit/religious corporation governance, employment law, dispute resolution, and lifecycle contracts management is strongly desired. Additionally, experience in enterprise risk management, occupational safety and site security, and emergency planning is a plus.
As the Associate General Counsel, your primary duties will include providing legal advice to key leaders and administrators, managing employment disputes and litigation, and supervising outside counsel. You will also work closely with the General Counsel to develop a continuously growing breadth and depth of experience within the Office of General Counsel. This includes providing compliance training and education to the University community and contributing to the spiritual leadership of the team.
To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. You should also have a high level of legal research and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work collegially in a diverse and complex environment.
In addition to these skills, the ideal candidate will have the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, make sound decisions under pressure, and exercise confidentiality and discretion. You should also have a logical problem-solving approach and the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
This position requires continuous sitting for four to six hours per day, as well as repetitive wrist and finger motions related to computer usage. You must also be able to hear and talk on the telephone, reach, grasp, bend, and lift up to twenty pounds. Proficiency in legal research platforms and Microsoft programs is required, and knowledge of Google Docs and the Google operating environment is preferred.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $172,105 to $197,921, based on qualifications and experience. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
