Job Overview:
A well-regarded civil and commercial litigation firm in the Greater Phoenix area is seeking a full-time Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team. This position is open to associate, of counsel, or non-equity partner level candidates, depending on experience, performance, and any existing book of business. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of litigation experience with a strong focus on insurance defense, general liability, auto, construction defect, and governmental liability. The incoming attorney will assume an active caseload from a retiring attorney and contribute to new matters through all phases of litigation.

Location:

  • Phoenix, Arizona

Duties:

  • Manage insurance defense litigation cases from inception through trial or settlement

  • Analyze case files and provide opinions on liability, damages, and litigation strategy

  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda and briefs

  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials

  • Handle subrogation, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, and governmental liability matters

  • Provide legal counsel to clients and insurance carriers

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience in insurance defense or related practice areas

  • Experience with general liability, auto, construction defect, and governmental defense

  • Prior trial and arbitration experience strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical, research, and case management skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the Arizona State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities

  • Ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly and professionally

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting effective depositions

  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize multiple deadlines

  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
