Job Title: Senior Associate/ Legal Director - Energy, Marine & Natural Resources
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Associate/Legal Director will be a core member of the Energy, Marine and Natural Resources team, primarily led by partners based in London. The role involves working closely with various practice areas, including corporate teams, marine litigation, and international offices. Key responsibilities include:
- Handling shipbuilding contracts and EPCI contracts.
- Managing vessel/offshore asset sale and purchase transactions with some supervision.
- Facilitating project/asset financing.
- Overseeing bareboat charters and long-term time charter parties.
- Drafting and negotiating service agreements and operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements.
- Delivering first-class, commercially efficient advice on complex offshore energy projects and floating assets, especially within the LNG supply chain and broader midstream commercial shipping.
- Advising on the entire lifecycle of a floating asset, including EPCI/shipbuilding contracts, charter documents, operation and maintenance agreements, downstream terminal use/offtake agreements, power purchase agreements, asset and project financing, and sale and leaseback financing.
Education and Experience:
- The successful candidate should ideally possess 5-9 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in offshore energy/marine transactional work or have transferable experience in the offshore and energy sectors.
- Experience or working knowledge in the LNG/oil and gas sectors is desirable.
- The candidate must display excellent legal ability and initiative, strong technical skills, and confidence in managing and prioritizing a full and varied caseload.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
- The Solicitors Act 1974 requires practicing solicitors to have a practicing certificate.
- All solicitors and registered European lawyers in legal practice or employment in England & Wales must comply with the Solicitors Regulation Authority's continuing professional development scheme (CPD Scheme).
