Overview:
Ball Morse Lowe PLLC is seeking experienced oil and gas title attorneys to join our innovative, well-established, and highly respected Oil, Gas + Energy practice. Our firm is renowned for delivering exceptional client service and industry-leading work products, and our attorneys thrive in a diverse, collaborative, and forward-thinking workplace. We serve a diverse range of clients, including oil and gas operators, non-op and mineral buyers, renewable energy producers, and landowners.
What You'll Do:
As an Oil and Gas Title Attorney, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our diverse and dynamic clientele across multiple energy-producing states. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of tasks including:
- Conducting Thorough Oil and Gas Title Examinations: You will perform detailed research and analysis of historical property records, leases, contracts, and other pertinent documents to determine ownership and detect any title defects. This includes investigating surface, mineral and leasehold ownership through public and private records to establish a clear chain of title, build ownership schedules, and identify encumbrances and other title issues.
- Drafting, Reviewing, and Delivering Title Opinions: You will meticulously draft title opinions that convey the ownership status and advise on the viability of oil and gas production activities under current legal frameworks. This involves synthesizing complex legal information into clear, actionable advice for our clients.
- Providing Strategic Legal Counseling: You will offer legal advice on transactional structures and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes counseling clients on transactional risks, negotiating terms on their behalf, and ensuring that all operational activities comply with applicable environmental and operational laws.
- Navigating Multi-Jurisdictional Challenges: Given our expansive geographic footprint, you will have opportunity to address jurisdiction-specific legal challenges and opportunities in Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. This includes staying current with legislative changes, regulatory updates, and emerging legal trends across your jurisdictions to provide proactive solutions to our clients.
- Liaising with Stakeholders: You will work closely with landmen, geologists, and other industry professionals to coordinate projects, ensuring all legal aspects are addressed and aligned with broader business objectives.
- Enhancing Client Relations and Business Development: Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, you'll contribute to client retention and acquisition efforts through exceptional service delivery and participation in industry events, workshops, and seminars.
