Job Title: Applied Researcher I

Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions with their finances.
- Utilize a wide range of technologies, including Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, and VectorDBs, to uncover insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Develop AI foundation models through design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation phases.
- Conduct high-impact applied research to integrate the latest AI developments into customer experiences.
- Translate complex research into tangible business goals using interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or possessing a PhD, with the expectation of obtaining the required degree before the start date, plus at least 2 years of experience in Applied Research, or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience in Applied Research.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Focus on NLP or Master's degree with 5 years of industrial NLP research experience.
- Multiple publications on pre-training of large language models.
- Experience as a member of a team that has trained a large language model from scratch.
- Publications in deep learning theory and conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, Neurips, ICML, or ICLR.
- Expertise in optimizing training of very large deep learning models, model sparsification, quantization, training parallelism, gradient checkpointing, and model compression.
- Experience optimizing training for large models and knowledge of deep learning algorithmic and optimizer design.
- Experience with compiler design and deploying fine-tuned large language models.

- Sales Territory: $195,000 - $222,500 for Applied Researcher I
- Cambridge, MA: $214,500 - $244,800 for Applied Researcher I
- McLean, VA: $214,500 - $244,800 for Applied Researcher I
- New York, NY: $234,000 - $267,000 for Applied Researcher I
- San Jose, CA: $234,000 - $267,000 for Applied Researcher I

- Candidates hired in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, with the actual salary offered reflected in the candidate’s offer letter.
