Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Construction Associate Attorney to join its Construction & Dispute Resolution team in Portland, ME. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution, with a strong interest in construction law. Experience in construction disputes or in negotiating and drafting complex construction contracts is a plus. The role will involve handling a variety of construction-related legal matters, including disputes and contract issues. Maine Bar membership is required.

Location:

Duties:

  • Handle construction-related legal matters, including litigation and dispute resolution
  • Work on negotiating and drafting construction contracts
  • Represent clients in construction disputes, including pre-litigation, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution
  • Provide legal counsel and support in various construction projects
  • Work collaboratively with a team of attorneys and support staff
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of litigation and dispute resolution experience
  • Interest in construction law, particularly dispute resolution and transactions
  • Maine Bar membership required
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with a strong work ethic

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Maine State Bar membership (required)

Skills:

  • Experience in construction litigation and dispute resolution
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Excellent research and writing abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
