Job Title: Senior Assistant Attorney General - Consumer Protection
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Assistant Attorney General will be part of the Consumer Protection & Antitrust Division of the organization. The primary responsibilities include:
- Enforcing the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act (WVCCPA), the West Virginia Antitrust Act, and other related laws to protect consumers.
- Working with consumers and companies to resolve complaints and conducting investigations into business practices.
- Filing civil suits on behalf of the State for violations of consumer protection or antitrust laws.
- Managing individual caseloads while collaborating with colleagues on multistate investigations or litigations.
- Handling high-profile, complex, and multi-state litigation cases.
- Performing supervisory administrative functions, including using time management software to maintain records of employee attendance and leave.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- An active West Virginia law license or eligibility for admission.
- At least eight (8) years of senior management experience, specifically in managing attorneys and staff, as well as overseeing some day-to-day operations within an office setting.
- A background in consumer protection and/or antitrust is advantageous, but candidates with general litigation or prosecutorial experience, or experience in related fields such as business, technology, healthcare, construction, privacy, and non-profit work, are also considered.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of electronic discovery and negotiation experience.
- A commitment to public service.
