Job Overview:

A respected law firm located in Westlake Village, CA, is actively seeking a knowledgeable and client-focused estate planning attorney. The role offers an opportunity to support individuals and families in developing and implementing tailored strategies for wealth transfer, legacy protection, and tax-efficient estate structuring. The position requires full-time, in-office presence and collaboration with a team of experienced legal professionals. Duties:

  • Conduct in-depth consultations with new and returning clients to gather relevant estate details and assess planning options

  • Review and revise existing estate plans for updates or enhancements based on client needs

  • Present planning options and related fee structures in a transparent and supportive manner

  • Manage client onboarding and documentation processes, including engagement agreements and payment coordination

  • Prepare or oversee the completion of intake materials, design summaries, and related estate plan components

  • Collaborate within task management systems (such as legal project tracking software) to monitor deadlines and communication

  • Review estate planning documents to confirm alignment with client objectives and legal standards

  • Guide clients through completed plans, providing clear explanations and answering questions

  • Identify opportunities for financial advisor referrals and coordinate required disclosures

  • Respond promptly to client calls and emails while maintaining thorough documentation of all interactions

  • Participate in regular team meetings focused on complex planning strategies and ongoing case discussions

  • Attend department and firm-wide meetings to align with procedural updates and organizational goals

  • Contribute to special projects and assignments as requested

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, including client consultation and plan design

  • Strong familiarity with trust formation, wills, and durable powers of attorney

  • Understanding of legal documentation workflows and estate law fundamentals

  • Comfort working within collaborative, in-office environments

  • Proficiency with digital tools for legal case management and scheduling

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

Certifications:

  • Notary Public license (preferred)

Skills:

  • Professional and courteous communication in client meetings and calls

  • Exceptional written communication and document review abilities

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines efficiently

  • Detail-focused with strong organizational habits and proofreading accuracy
