Job Title: Underwriting Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate title searches and insurance risk factors; justify and communicate underwriting requirements to counsel for buyers, sellers, and lenders in real estate transactions.
- Evaluate risk and exposures to determine the acceptability of business.
- Determine premiums, terms, and conditions based on established rules, rates, and guidelines.
- Analyze data such as financial conditions of the organization, participation percentage, type of industry, characteristics of employee groups, or past claim experiences.
- Perform a range of assignments and may lead projects within own discipline.
- Apply working knowledge of business and best practices by understanding key business drivers and recognizing how own area integrates within the organization.
- Work within broad guidelines and policies to accomplish objectives and goals.
- Solve moderately complex to complex problems and analyze possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
- Explain complex and/or sensitive information in a straightforward manner.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
- Serve as an individual contributor working with limited oversight.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD), currently licensed to practice in a state.
Experience:
- Typically requires 2-4 years of related work experience.
Salary Information:
The base salary range provided is consistent with similar roles at the company. The base salary range is not absolute but serves as a guide, and actual offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, education, experience, location, market conditions, and other compensation components. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations, the base salary may be lower or higher than the stated range.
