A law firm seeks an Associate Employment Litigation Attorney to join its Torrance, CA, office on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work on plaintiff-side class actions and individual discrimination and harassment matters under the supervision of senior litigation counsel.
Duties
Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs in state and federal court
Conduct factual and legal research on California employment statutes and case law
Manage all phases of class-action and individual employment litigation, including discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and client counseling
Prepare correspondence, settlement proposals, and court filings
Coordinate with paralegals and support staff to ensure the timely progression of cases
Requirements
Admission to the California State Bar (or imminent eligibility)
1–4 years of employment litigation experience, with a focus on plaintiff-side class actions or individual discrimination claims
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
Self-motivated, disciplined, and eager to take on substantive responsibilities
Education
Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications
Active membership in good standing of the California State Bar
Skills
Advanced motion drafting and oral advocacy
In-depth knowledge of California employment law and class-action procedures
Proficient in e-filing systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines
