Job Title: Tax Manager - Business Tax Services - Tax Exempt
Location: 19 locations across the United States
Position Summary:
- Seeking a strategic and creative federal tax professional with experience in tax-exempt organizations
- Responsible for providing federal tax compliance and consulting services to non-profit clients across various industries
- Opportunity to work with well-rounded technical skills and clients actively involved in philanthropy
- Part of Deloitte's Business Tax Services Tax-Exempt practice, working with like-minded specialists from across the country
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various federal tax consulting/compliance engagements
- Advising clients on tax issues related to compliance, business restructuring, exemption strategies, philanthropy, and tax controversy
- Overseeing federal tax compliance and consulting projects for a variety of entities and their affiliates
- Managing engagement workflow, team resources, and billing
- Providing technical training, leadership, and career guidance for the engagement team
The Team:
- Comprised of experienced professionals dedicated to serving non-profit organizations and donors
- Includes specialists in multi-state tax compliance, international tax compliance and consulting, and transfer tax planning
- Collaborates with Consulting, Audit & Assurance, and Advisory colleagues on client projects, with some team members fully dedicated to non-profit clients
Deloitte's Global Center for Excellence in Philanthropy (GCEP):
- Cross-functional team of tax, audit, and consulting professionals dedicated to serving innovative individuals, companies, and non-profits working towards societal change
- Provides philanthropic tax advisory services to some of the world's wealthiest and most sophisticated donors
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to work within a hybrid work model (in person 2-3 days per week)
- 5+ years of federal taxation experience with a focus on tax-exempt organizations (501(c)(3)s and 501(c)(4)s) in industries such as healthcare, private foundations, and community organizations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
- Active accreditation, such as CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, CFA, or CFP
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on client needs
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM
- Experience with Big 4 or large CPA firms
- Strong understanding of federal tax compliance, analysis, and research
- Familiarity with mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring specific to tax-exempt organizations
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Management experience and strong analytical skills
Salary Information:
- Compensation decisions take into account factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business needs
- Estimated range for this role is $84,980 to $193,440, not adjusted for geographic location
- Eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program based on individual and organizational performance
