Job Title: Consultant, Property Tax Commercial
Job Responsibilities:
The Property Tax Consultant is tasked with identifying tax savings opportunities for clients and understanding the computation of each component of property tax by the client. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with a team to research issues, reconcile databases, and complete detailed calculations.
- Assisting the team in verifying issues with taxing authorities.
- Responding to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Working effectively with clients and taxing authorities on a national basis.
- Attending client meetings and property inspections.
- Reviewing client property tax records and applying software knowledge to work with client data.
- Researching tax issues and preparing property reports and renditions.
- Analyzing assessment notices to determine potential assessment reductions and filing appeals.
- Determining liability for development projects and working with tax incentive issues for clients.
- Interacting frequently with team members and communicating effectively through written and verbal channels.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, or other related degrees.
- Master’s in Business Discipline or JD, Business Analytics, Operations, and Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- Must have completed 6 hours of Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a GPA of or higher, and a Major GPA of or higher.
- Relevant work experience is preferred, such as internships, summer positions, or school jobs.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of audit or tax-related experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research is required.
Certificates and Licenses:
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Regular interaction with employees at all levels of the company in person and via email and telephone.
- Regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via email and telephone.
- Independent travel requirement: Up to 10-20%.
Salary Information:
- For certain California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $74,800 - $93,500.
