H2: Job Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, documents, and summaries for the judge's consideration
- Analyze briefs, petitions, motions, and other legal documents to determine factual accuracy and complexity of issues
- Prepare written statements of facts and draft conference memoranda and opinions
- Advise judges on a variety of civil and criminal issues and proceedings
- May be assigned supervisory responsibilities and manage the work of other legal staff
- Work with judges, attorneys, and the public to address procedural and substantive legal issues
- Write proposed decisions and process petitions for habeas corpus
- Conduct research on relevant legal issues and prepare opinions for the Court's consideration

H2: Employment Standards
- Must be an active member of the California State Bar
- Minimum of two years of experience in the full-time practice of the relevant area of law (. criminal law)
- Strong academic background and knowledge of legal principles, precedents, and their application
- Private practice is prohibited during tenure with the Court
- Must pass a background investigation upon conditional offer of employment

H2: Supplemental Information
- This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for Regular Full-Time, Extra Help, and Limited Term opportunities at the court
- Limited Term positions are hired for a specific term, subject to extension at the Court's discretion
- Extra Help positions are used for peak workload and vacancies, and are not eligible for most Court benefits
