A law firm seeks an experienced commercial litigation associate to join its Richmond, Virginia office. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 5-8 years of litigation experience to work on a diverse range of sophisticated matters for high-profile clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, and be eager to take on challenging cases involving cutting-edge legal issues.

Duties:

  • Manage a wide variety of commercial litigation cases, including those involving professional liability, employment defense, product liability, financial services, legal malpractice, accounting disputes, and construction litigation.
  • Lead case management efforts from inception through resolution, including preparing and filing pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Handle direct client interactions, providing timely legal advice and keeping clients updated on case developments.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to formulate and execute litigation strategies, including trial preparation and settlement discussions.
  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Foster relationships with colleagues and clients, contributing to a team-oriented, collegial environment.
  • Mentor junior associates and contribute to the firm’s professional development programs.
  • Manage multiple high-stakes cases simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and strategic focus throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on areas such as professional liability, product liability, financial services, employment defense, and construction disputes.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with a proven track record of producing high-quality legal work.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex cases and assume responsibility for significant client interactions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a large, dynamic team.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia and in good standing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Virginia Bar.
