Job Title: Law Fellow
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop legal expertise in areas such as housing, labor and employment, environmental justice, education, and health.
- Engage in community education and provide quality direct legal assistance to LGBTQ+ individuals in rural areas.
- Address challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals related to sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, disability, race, economic class, and immigration status.
- Conduct trainings to increase cultural competencies and legal knowledge for CRLA staff, private attorneys, public agencies, school systems, and community partners.
- Provide legal assistance in areas including name and gender marker corrections, education and student rights, immigration, employment, housing, public benefits, and access to healthcare.
- Collaborate with rural community leaders, LGBTQ+ community centers, and other supportive organizations and agencies to break down barriers causing poverty and systemic violence.
- Work closely with CRLA during the fellowship application process to secure funding.
- Participate in sustained partnerships to support rural LGBTQ+ communities.
Education and Experience Information:
