Job Title: Senior Counsel- Regulatory Law (Hybrid Schedule)
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent the company in various regulatory proceedings, including hearings before administrative law judges. This involves defending company witnesses and cross-examining witnesses for other parties.
- Provide legal and strategic advice on highly complex regulatory issues, which include both technical and policy-based matters. This often entails collaboration with other legal departments.
- Prepare memos, briefs, motions, comments, affidavits, and various legal pleadings and documents as directed or required for assigned cases or material transactions. Maintain related document files and legal correspondence.
- Regularly interact with different groups within the company, such as engineering, accounting, rate design, customer programs, procurement, and safety, as well as with executives and upper management.
- May include supervision and training responsibilities for less experienced attorneys.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which will not exceed 5% of the overall duties.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's Degree and . (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with the California Bar or certification to practice in California.
- A minimum of eight years of legal practice is required, preferably as in-house counsel before regulatory agencies and/or as outside counsel representing clients before such agencies or in civil court proceedings involving regulatory issues.
- Must have the ability to independently lead and handle complex legal matters.
- Demonstrated ability to independently handle major regulatory proceedings.
- Experience in the utility industry is desirable.
- Experience as a litigator or environmental attorney representing companies in complex matters is considered relevant.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for this position is $185,200 to $309,300 per year.
Additional Information:
- The position operates on a hybrid schedule, typically requiring the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- The candidate must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
