Job Title: Senior Corporate Counsel, Inventory Solutions
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to the Inventory Solutions group and its subsidiaries, business units, and partners on a broad range of day-to-day operational legal topics, including commercial transactions and contract negotiations, product strategy/development, operational efficiencies, compliance, and general business matters.
- Work with multiple groups and business partners on the development of strategies that support business development and commercial plans, with particular focus on the largest customers and partners.
- Serve as primary counsel for and partner with senior leadership from the Inventory Solutions team to provide key strategic advice on significant projects and business activity, including existing and new customer/partner relationships and business initiatives, and to develop and execute action plans to resolve issues presented in contract negotiations.
- Serve as a strategic partner to drive results for the Inventory Solutions group and identify legal and process improvements to create value, eliminate cost and waste, and mitigate risk.
- Advise and/or represent members of the Inventory Solutions group to regulatory boards and other authorities.
- Efficiently prioritize competing business and legal interests, while providing support to a wide range of business partners.
- Interpret laws, rulings, regulations, and industry standards, and advise the Inventory Solutions group accordingly, including research and analysis of emerging legal matters and advice and support for policies and regulatory compliance.
- Review, advise on, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including contracts covering auction consignment; vehicle reconditioning; vehicle and fleet marshalling; master services agreements; digital private store marketplaces; professional services; transport logistics; EV battery management, remanufacturing, diagnostics, and valuation; and terms and conditions and other marketplace policies.
- Review and advise on new products and product enhancements with the Inventory Solutions group.
- Establish and maintain a detailed knowledge of the Cox Automotive products and of the commercial and technology development strategies of the Inventory Solutions team.
- Coordinate with subject matter legal experts and other in-house attorneys supporting other solutions groups to ensure efficient delivery of legal services while providing leadership to sales teams and to product groups as assigned by the Associate General Counsel, Inventory Solutions.
- Responsible for identifying and helping to address difficult issues, developing and evaluating alternatives, providing advice and implementing solutions in the context of complex and significant transactions that often have company-wide impact.
- Assist and guide the development, implementation, and deployment of forms, procedures, policies, and playbooks designed to create operational efficiencies in contract and product review, while protecting the interests of Cox Automotive.
- Assist with M&A due diligence reviews, regulatory filings, and compliance matters relating to the Inventory Solutions group.
- Develop strong relationships with internal contacts, including, but not limited to: other in-house attorneys, Security, Risk Management, Finance, and other appropriate departments to ensure high service level and anticipate special needs.
- Responsible for effectively managing external advisers.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one state.
- 5+ years of legal experience.
- Ability to partner with subject matter experts and other in-house attorneys to provide seamless experience to internal clients in addressing and resolving legal issues.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels in the company and explain complex technical and legal issues in a succinct and clear manner.
- Business-minded attorney with strong initiative and excellent project management, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a highly collaborative and international team, in a fast-paced cross-cultural environment.
- A focus on client needs with a commitment to timing, quality, and client service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the automobile industry (including working with OEMs), EV batteries, and/or the financial services industry.
- Experience and expertise in providing legal counsel for the provision of both fee-based and subscription-based products and services.
Salary Information:
- Compensation includes a base salary of $175, - $292,. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
