Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney with 2-3 years of litigation experience to join its employment and consumer rights litigation team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for advocating on behalf of individuals, strong litigation capabilities, and an eagerness to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative legal environment. This role offers a blend of autonomy and teamwork, with opportunities for courtroom exposure, client interaction, and professional development.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse employment litigation caseload from inception to resolution

  • Develop a case strategy and manage legal workflow independently

  • Appear in court and argue motions

  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, and pre-trial documents

  • Conduct and defend depositions

  • Engage in legal research and write persuasive memoranda

  • Participate in settlement discussions and mediations

  • Collaborate with expert witnesses in statistical and financial matters

  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials/arbitrations when needed

  • Maintain consistent communication with clients and witnesses

  • Coordinate effectively with opposing and co-counsel

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in California in good standing

  • 2-3 years of employment litigation experience, preferably representing plaintiffs

  • Demonstrated ability to manage discovery and draft legal motions

  • Familiarity with California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Court

  • Experience with law and motion practice, including arguing motions in court

  • Record of taking and defending depositions

  • Capable of managing complex caseloads while meeting deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California (mandatory)

Skills:

  • Outstanding legal writing and analytical abilities

  • Strong oral advocacy and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational habits

  • Adept at managing client relationships

  • Ability to thrive in both independent and team-based settings
