Job Title: Head of Construction Defect Claims

Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee a large team managing all aspects of construction defect claims, ensuring effective and best-in-class claims handling.
- Develop and enhance the performance of the construction defect (CD) claim teams, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of complex and severe liability claims.
- Continuously develop talent by creating growth opportunities and strengthening new skills for direct reports.
- Monitor team performance, analyze problematic trends, identify root cause problems, and escalate issues or recommend solutions to operational leadership.
- Advocate for a culture committed to identifying process efficiencies to improve work completion.
- Foster a vision of highly effective and engaged employee culture by selecting top talent, delivering continuous coaching, recognizing employees, and holding others accountable for team development.
- Promote claims customer service excellence by understanding and exceeding stakeholders' expectations.
- Identify changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high-quality outcomes and develop training solutions to embed and sustain those practices within the organization.
- Identify changes in technology to support the execution of practices and workflows, collaborating with IT counterparts for design, build, and testing.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure profitable growth.
- Develop coverage acumen and ensure proactive management of litigation by the team.

Education and Experience Information:
- Significant experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, particularly in Construction Defect claim management.
- Expertise in multi-jurisdictional claims.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; an advanced degree, such as a Juris Doctor (.), is preferred.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of claims teams across multiple locations.
- Direct management and guidance of a team of Managers overseeing all aspects of claims handling.
- Regular participation in claims roundtable discussions focusing on issues surrounding coverage, liability, and assessment of damages.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Leadership skills, including planning, organizing, delegating, and developing direct reports.
- Persuasive and influential communication abilities; effectively explains, challenges ideas, and argues in favor of own point of view.
- Emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Embraces change, invites performance feedback, and constructively deals with criticism.
