Responsibilities:
- Criminal Defense Attorneys represent individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses in Tulsa Criminal Courts.
- They work with interdisciplinary teams to mitigate any consequences that may arise from their clients' involvement with the criminal justice system.
- They must be prepared to litigate and negotiate confidently with judges, prosecutors, and other actors in the system.
- They may also have the opportunity to co-counsel cases in other venues.
- Mainly appearing in criminal courts, but may also work in other areas as needed or desired.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in Criminal Law or a related field.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Membership in good standing with the Oklahoma bar or eligibility for admission.
- Commitment to defending indigent individuals in the north Tulsa community.
- Experience and interest in working with marginalized communities.
- Critical thinking and quick decision-making skills.
- Strong research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Must sit for the Oklahoma State Bar Examination or submit necessary materials for waiver if hired.
