Job Title: Tax Manager, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Manager specializing in Partnerships, the primary responsibilities include advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives with a focus on partnership-specific items. These include section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations. The role involves understanding potential partnership taxation issues and assisting in the preparation of partnership-specific computations. As a key leader within the department, the Tax Manager actively participates in the development and improvement of the group and maintains client relationships while providing guidance to other team members.
The job duties entail:
- Maintaining and developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues regarding partnership taxation.
- Identifying when research is needed, framing issues concisely, and reporting analyses clearly.
- Involving specialists from the company as appropriate for in-depth research.
- Assisting with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient tax strategies to maximize client benefits.
- Training and mentoring associates and senior associates in tax specialization areas.
- Supervising associates and senior associates, reviewing their work, and providing feedback.
- Acting as a career advisor and managing workloads.
- Providing verbal and written performance feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for majors in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- A Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience is required.
- Specialized partnership experience is required, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Private equity experience at both fund and portfolio company levels is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is also preferred.
Software and Skills:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to delegate work effectively.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills, as well as decision-making skills, are required.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and to develop and manage a team of tax professionals.
- Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines and focus on details.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Salary Information:
Salaries offered are determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges are as follows:
- National Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- Maryland Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- Washington DC Range: $79,800 - $168,000
