Job Overview:
A Pasadena-based law firm is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation defense team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience handling personal injury and professional liability matters. This position involves active case management, court appearances, depositions, and client communication, with the expectation of working onsite full-time.
Duties:
Oversee a portfolio of civil litigation matters from initiation through resolution
Conduct legal research and draft motions, including summary judgment and demurrers
Participate in all phases of discovery, including taking and defending depositions
Attend court proceedings and represent clients at hearings
Engage in regular communication with clients, providing case updates and legal guidance
Ensure timely adherence to litigation deadlines and procedural requirements
Requirements:
Licensed and authorized to practice law in California
Prior exposure to personal injury and professional liability litigation
Proficiency in motion practice and courtroom advocacy
Comfortable managing multiple matters and deadlines independently
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients, team members, and legal staff
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership with the California State Bar
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with litigation management software and legal databases
Strategic thinker with analytical problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work
