Law Reform Legal Intern - Fall 2025
Job Responsibilities
The law reform legal intern will be part of the organization’s efforts in impact litigation and policy initiatives aimed at addressing systemic issues impacting the organization's clients. Interns will be assigned to one of the law reform units within the department, according to the intern’s preferences and the units’ needs. The primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research and factual research.
- Interviewing clients.
- Participating in discovery and trial practice as opportunities arise.
- Contributing to the drafting of legal papers, policy memos, and legislative testimony.
- Engaging in coalition building and public education strategies.
- Analyzing complex legal and policy issues.
- Demonstrating initiative to see projects through to completion.
Education and Experience Information
- Applicants must be 2L or 3L law students in good standing.
- A strong interest in issues affecting the rights of the organization's clients, particularly those related to the specific unit(s) the applicant prioritizes.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- A commitment to racial and social justice is essential.
Salary Information
This intern position does not offer a salary. However, eligible interns may receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. The stipend is awarded through a lottery system to 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship. To qualify, interns must:
- Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution.
- Complete the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form when submitting their internship application.
- Be accepted to participate in an internship program at the organization.
- Demonstrate financial need and lack of internship funding.
- Submit a statement reflecting a strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation.
The stipend will be treated as taxable income.
