A distinguished law firm based in Orange, CA is seeking a highly experienced Senior Attorney to provide representation to legal professionals facing disciplinary action or applying for bar admission. Acting through a specialized recruiting partner, this search focuses on identifying a legal expert who combines deep understanding of professional conduct rules with a compassionate, rehabilitation-focused approach. This role involves managing complex cases, offering strategic counsel, and contributing to thought leadership in a niche legal discipline.
Duties:
Represent attorneys in disciplinary proceedings and bar admission matters
Provide legal guidance on professional conduct, obligations, and compliance with bar rules
Advocate for clients in hearings, oral arguments, and settlement discussions
Prepare and deliver expert witness testimony in appropriate cases
Conduct investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing complaints
Develop and execute customized defense strategies
Draft motions, briefs, and other procedural documents
Collaborate with legal colleagues and manage support staff during case progression
Contribute to firm thought leadership through MCLE materials, articles, and presentations
Engage in professional organizations and remain active in legal ethics networks
Utilize legal practice management software for billing and documentation
Maintain monthly billing targets (125 billable hours; 100 collected)
Uphold a client-focused and positive workplace culture
Participate in firm projects as needed
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of legal practice, ideally in ethics, discipline defense, or professional responsibility
Proven record of handling complex legal cases independently
Deep understanding of State Bar procedures and attorney discipline frameworks
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing member of at least one . State Bar (California preferred)
Skills:
Exceptional legal writing, advocacy, and research abilities
Strong analytical thinking and strategic problem-solving
Effective interpersonal and client communication skills
Detail-oriented with superior organizational and time management skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (., Clio)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional integrity
Comfort with public speaking and legal education delivery
