This is an excellent opportunity for law students to gain practical skills and make a positive impact in their community.

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. primarily advises and represents the Secretary of State in charitable enforcement matters. This includes investigating and prosecuting violations of the Maryland Solicitations Act and laws governing the protection of charitable assets. The Office also provides counsel to various divisions and programs within the Secretary of State's Office, including the Charitable Organizations Division, Notaries Division, Maryland Safe at Home Program, and more. Additionally, the Office advises the Secretary of State on certification of statewide ballot questions and acceptance of petitions for referendum.

As a Law Clerk, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, including legal research and writing, conducting witness and client interviews, and assisting with litigation in Maryland's trial, administrative, and appellate courts. With a distinguished history of successfully addressing complex legal issues, the Office offers a challenging and rewarding experience for law students.

To qualify for this position, you must be a law student, preferably 2L or 3L, with a strong GPA and excellent legal research and writing abilities. You should also possess strong communication and team skills, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude. The schedule for this position will be determined based on the needs of the division and your class and extracurricular commitments, with an expectation of working 15-20 hours per week. You may also be eligible to receive course credit for this position.
