The Unified Court System of New York is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Law Clerk with a base salary of $82,198 plus $4,775 location pay. This position is located at the Supreme Court, New York County - Civil Term and is classified as exempt/confidential. The successful candidate will have graduated from an accredited law school within the past three years and be admitted to the New York State Bar within 18 months of appointment. Alternatively, the candidate must be appointed within three years of their first admission to any bar in the United States. Job Description:
- Research and analyze legal issues raised in complex civil term motions
- Prepare memorandums, draft orders, and verify citations
- Serve under the supervision of Justices of the Supreme Court, Appellate Divisions, Court of Appeals, and NYC Surrogate's Courts
- Assigned to one or more full terms with designated Acting Supreme Court Justices
- Appointed to a one-year clerkship, renewable four times
- Personally appointed by the Justice for whom they work and serve at their pleasure

Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze complex legal issues
- Draft decisions and orders
- Schedule and conduct discovery and status conferences, and draft resulting orders
- Communicate with counsel
- Prepare for oral arguments on complex motions
- Prepare for trials, including researching evidentiary issues
- Learn and utilize court technologies and resources
