A law firm seeks a Labor & Employment Associate to join its Phoenix, AZ team in a full-time, on-site capacity. This role emphasizes hands‐on litigation within employment law, including class actions and restrictive covenant disputes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for trial work and a strong foundation in federal and state employment statutes.

Duties

  • Manage all facets of employment litigation, from case inception through trial, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs

  • Conduct depositions, witness interviews, and cover hearings in both state and federal court settings

  • Handle written discovery requests and responses, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Develop and execute case strategy for individual and class‐action matters involving Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and similar statutes

  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze complex legal issues, prepare trial exhibits, and coordinate witness preparation

  • Participate in client meetings, offering strategic advice on employment‐related risks and compliance matters

  • Maintain detailed case files, track deadlines, and communicate progress to supervising attorneys

Requirements

  • 2+ years of substantial litigation experience, ideally with exposure to employment law class actions or restrictive covenant disputes

  • Demonstrated proficiency in courtroom advocacy, depositions, and persuasive brief writing

  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and their practical applications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills to evaluate complex fact patterns and legal issues

  • Proven ability to work independently, assume significant ownership of cases, and exercise sound judgment under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication capabilities for effective courtroom and client interactions

  • Admission to the Arizona State Bar or willingness to secure bar membership promptly

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA‐accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the Arizona State Bar (or eligibility to obtain membership)

Skills

  • Advanced legal research skills using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or comparable platforms

  • Strong drafting abilities for pleadings, motions, discovery, and appellate documents

  • Effective trial preparation and courtroom presentation skills

  • Aptitude for managing high‐volume caseloads and critical deadlines

  • Collaborative mindset to engage with partners, senior attorneys, and support staff

  • Ability to distill complex employment regulations into practical client guidance
