The organization is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Section. This individual will be responsible for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting suspected violations of consumer protection laws, with a focus on the new Consumer Data Protection Act and the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze, investigate, and prosecute suspected violations of the new Consumer Data Protection Act, the Virginia Consumer Protection Act, and other state and federal consumer privacy statutes
- Secondary responsibility for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of other state and federal consumer protection laws as needed
- Appear in state or federal court to represent the organization in cases against alleged violators
- Collaborate with counterparts in other states and federal agencies
- Assist in drafting official opinions and reviewing proposed legislation

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts, with a focus on consumer privacy or consumer protection matters
- Admission to the Virginia State Bar
- Strong analytical and management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including government officials and the general public

Desired Qualifications:

- International Association of Privacy Professionals’ Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification (can be obtained after employment)
