Summary:
The **Members Only** is currently seeking a Major Case Unit Director for their locations in Raleigh, North Carolina; Scottsdale, Arizona; Omaha, Nebraska; Alpharetta, Georgia; Sarasota, Florida; Kansas City, Missouri; and Overland Park, Kansas. This role is responsible for managing complex claims with high financial exposure under commercial liability policies, specifically focusing on construction defect and general liability claims. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in these areas and be able to collaborate with colleagues and other disciplines in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle highly complex exposure claims based on Claim Guidelines.
- Direct and manage use of independent investigators, appraisers, and experts.
- Develop litigation/file disposition strategy and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Verify and analyze coverage for reported losses.
- Establish and maintain contact with all stakeholders throughout the life of the claim file.
- Investigate claims by gathering information, conducting interviews, and reviewing reports.
- Identify and address subrogation, contribution, and SIU opportunities.
- Set accurate and timely loss and expense reserves.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and authorize settlements with stakeholders within designated authority.
- Maintain adjuster licenses as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of claims handling experience, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience handling liability claims with an exposure of $250,000 or more.
- Excellent coverage analysis and drafting skills.
- Extensive experience with general liability, construction defect, garage, and commercial trucking claims.
- Experience handling litigated files and directing defense counsel.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 4 days a month.
- Licensure as required by respective state(s).
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPCU and other insurance related studies.
- Construction defect claim handling experience.
