Job Title: Associate Staff Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Litigation Execution: The Associate Staff Counsel is responsible for managing all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents such as pleadings and motions. The role involves supporting Senior Trial Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel in all aspects of case handling through trial, including preparation, management, and assistance at every stage of the litigation process.
- Client Advisory and Relationship Management: The counsel provides clear and reasoned legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients, developing and maintaining strong client relationships through transparent and effective communication.
- Technology Utilization: The role requires utilizing e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs. It involves demonstrating effective coordination with remote team members and proficiency in remote work settings.
- Risk Evaluation and Case Resolution Facilitation: The Associate Staff Counsel identifies, evaluates, and collaborates on strategies to mitigate legal risks, working closely with clients and senior counsel to facilitate effective resolutions.
- Documentation Accuracy and Compliance: Ensures all legal documents, pleadings, and motions are meticulously prepared, accurate, and compliant with applicable standards and client expectations.
- Timely Client Communication: Provides clear, consistent, and timely updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals to maintain alignment with case objectives.
- Contribution to Organizational Improvement: Participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices within the department.
- Ethical Compliance Adherence: Upholds the highest standards of legal ethics and compliance, following legal regulations and licensing requirements, and promoting a culture of integrity within the legal team.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in California and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.
- General knowledge of personal injury law.
- Proficiency in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
- Basic knowledge of negotiation techniques including preparation, active listening, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.
- Effective communication and persuasion skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.
- Organized, process-oriented with strong time management skills.
Salary Information:
- Minimum Salary: USD $100,.
- Maximum Salary: USD $161,.
- The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market.
