Job Title: Manager - Sales & Use Tax
Job Responsibilities:
The role of the Manager - Sales & Use Tax at the company involves a comprehensive understanding and management of state and local taxes (SALT) with a particular focus on sales and use taxes. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding sales and use taxes to identify optimal filing options for clients.
- Analyzing and reviewing apportionment information to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for savings.
- Consistently identifying engagement and operational opportunities for improvement, providing timely solutions and consultation.
- Understanding nexus and revenue sourcing issues, which are crucial for multi-state tax compliance.
- Managing multiple concurrent engagements without disruption or loss of control and ensuring all are completed within scheduled deadlines.
- Planning and researching tax issues to provide accurate and efficient tax solutions.
- Managing multiple client relationships, including billing and resource needs.
- Preparing technical memorandums to document tax positions and solutions.
- Providing audit assistance to clients undergoing state audits.
- Assisting with state income tax compliance to ensure clients meet all necessary requirements.
- Assisting in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff to enhance team performance and client service.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Manager - Sales & Use Tax position must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience is necessary, with the experience needing to include public accounting, though it can also include a combination of public accounting (tax) and industry experience.
- A CPA license or a . or designation is preferred, highlighting the need for advanced knowledge in tax law and compliance.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Manager - Sales & Use Tax role is subject to variation based on the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. For the Illinois market, the salary range is as follows:
- Minimum Salary: $80,000 USD
- Maximum Salary: $140,000 USD
Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for overtime pay, at a rate of time and a half, for work exceeding 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits eligibility includes group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. The company reserves the right to adjust the salary range based on business needs.
