Job Title: Tax Manager – US Business Process Solutions - Managed Payroll Services
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Manager in the US Business Process Solutions - Managed Payroll Services, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to delivering payroll tax services to clients. Your primary responsibilities will include managing and overseeing the service delivery of payroll tax services. You will ensure that the following activities are performed to the highest standards of client service and accuracy:
- Configuration of payroll wage codes for accurate application of employer and employee taxes and social security.
- Analysis of payroll tax notices.
- Preparation of Powers of Attorney.
- Liaison with Federal and State Agencies.
- Registration of employers for payroll taxes.
- Preparation and filing of payroll tax returns.
- Preparation of Forms W-2, Forms 1099, and state equivalents.
- Performing regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoiding delays in filings and monitoring penalties/notices.
- Working in partnership with clients to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll tax liabilities.
- Reconciling federal and state withholding taxes and unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Applying for identification numbers, such as FEIN and SUI, when entering new jurisdictions.
- Evaluating and improving payroll tax processes for higher efficiency and accuracy.
- Identifying opportunities for automation and leading implementation efforts related to payroll taxes.
- Coordinating year-end efforts to ensure accurate W-2s and other annual tax filings.
- Ensuring proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes for employers and employees in the payroll tax system.
- Performing quarterly reconciliation and data analysis.
- Reconciling payroll taxes at the employee level.
- Having knowledge of Tax Adjustment & Amendment.
- Playing a lead role in Year-End processing for accurate W-2.
- Communicating directly with internal/external customers regarding tax inquiries.
- Researching and resolving payroll tax inquiries.
- Ensuring tax-related updates in the payroll system are fully reviewed and understood.
- Performing internal audits as requested.
- Identifying and resolving issues as well as driving change for related improvements.
- Setting up the required operating protocols for the service offering.
Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 – 3 days per week.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll tax processing, preferably in a multi-state US environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, human resources, international business, finance, accounting, or other liberal arts majors.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Enrolled Agent.
- Juris Doctor (JD).
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
- Proficiency with payroll software (., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and Microsoft Excel.
- An aptitude for working as part of a dynamic team with diverse members.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work, and manage multiple assignments in a team environment.
- Strong analytical, consultative, quantitative, and project management skills.
- Executive presence, and excellent communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills with an aptitude for working as part of a global team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Attention to detail, self-starter, and deadline-oriented.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role takes into account various factors that influence compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $103,320 to $235,170. Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
