A national defense firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join the General Liability Practice Group in Louisville, KS. This position offers an exciting opportunity for Kentucky-licensed attorneys with 3-10 years of experience in defending general liability claims, including auto, premises liability, and professional lines such as medical malpractice and assisted living/long-term care. Location:

  • Louisville, KS

Duties:

  • Review and prepare summaries of medical records to advocate for clients.
  • Draft motions and attend hearings to represent clients in court.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and attend depositions as necessary.
  • Draft initial reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports, and participate in trials and appellate activities.
  • Respond to discovery requests and draft discovery-related motions.
  • Regularly attend court appearances and ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in the State of Kentucky.
  • 3-10 years of experience in general liability defense, including auto, premises liability, and professional lines (medical malpractice, assisted living/long-term care).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal issues.
  • Excellent research, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to draft and respond to discovery-related motions.
  • Regular court appearance experience.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Experience drafting motions for summary judgment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Kentucky State Bar License.

Skills:

  • General liability defense experience.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to manage caseload and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
