Job Title: Head of Construction Defect Claims
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a large team handling all aspects of construction defect claims, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of liability claims of the highest complexity and/or severity.
- Develop and enhance the performance of the Construction Defect (CD) Claim teams by creating opportunities for direct reports to grow and strengthen their skills.
- Monitor team performance, analyze trends to identify root cause problems, and escalate issues or recommend solutions to operational leadership.
- Advocate for process efficiencies to continuously improve work completion and foster a culture committed to such improvements.
- Select top talent, provide continuous coaching, recognize employee achievements, and hold others accountable for team development to ensure service excellence.
- Build an understanding of the customer experience to meet and exceed stakeholders' expectations and advocate for claims customer service excellence.
- Identify changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high-quality outcomes and develop training solutions to embed and sustain those practices in the organization.
- Work with IT counterparts to identify changes in technology that support the execution of best practices and workflows, and assist in the design, build, and test of those changes.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with business partners internally and externally to ensure profitable growth.
- Develop coverage acumen and proactively ensure the team manages litigation effectively.
Education and Experience Information:
- Significant experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, with material experience in Construction Defect claim management.
- Expertise in handling claims in multiple jurisdictions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- An advanced degree, including a Juris Doctor (.), is preferred.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of claims teams located in multiple locations.
- Experience in managing and guiding a team of Managers responsible for overseeing all aspects of claims handling.
- Participation in claims roundtable discussions focusing on coverage, liability, and assessment of damages.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Proven leadership skills, including planning, organizing, delegating, and developing direct reports.
- Ability to persuade and influence people through superior written and oral communications.
- Possess emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Embrace change, invite feedback related to performance, and deal constructively with criticism.
