Job Title: Law Student Clerkships
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in client and witness intake and interviews to assist in gathering essential case information.
- Engage in bail review processes to understand and contribute to decisions regarding client bail.
- Conduct discovery analysis to evaluate and organize case materials for legal proceedings.
- Perform legal research and writing to support case arguments and legal documentation.
- Analyze evidence to assist in the preparation of defense strategies.
- Engage in motion practice, which involves drafting and filing motions with the court.
- Assist with plea agreements, including negotiations and documentation.
- Aid in trial preparation by organizing materials, preparing witness lists, and developing case strategies.
- Contribute to sentencing argument preparation to support favorable outcomes for clients.
- All duties are performed under the supervision of public defender staff attorneys.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be a law school student currently enrolled in a legal education program.
