A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a full-time USPTO-registered Patent Prosecution Team Attorney to support its Electronics & Software practice group. This non-partnership track position offers a lower billable hour requirement and is ideal for attorneys focused on software-related patent prosecution. The role provides opportunities for client counseling and portfolio development in a collaborative, high-performing legal team.

Prepare and prosecute . and foreign patent applications in software-related technologies
Counsel clients on patent portfolio strategy and patentability of inventions
Draft responses to office actions issued by the USPTO and international patent offices
Conduct legal research and draft patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions
Collaborate with patent agents, associates, and technical specialists
Manage dockets and meet all legal deadlines and client expectations
Review invention disclosures and participate in inventor interviews
Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
Strong understanding of patent laws and USPTO practices
Demonstrated ability to draft high-quality patent applications and office action responses
Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and project management skills
California or Washington bar membership preferred (but not required)
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in one of the following:
Computer Engineering
Computer Science
Electrical Engineering
Physics
Or a closely related technical field
Active registration with the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
State Bar membership in good standing (CA or WA preferred)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with software technologies such as:
Cloud computing
Cybersecurity and encryption
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Bioinformatics
Mobile applications
Database systems
Network architecture
Strong analytical thinking and legal reasoning
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reduced billable hour requirement (compared to partnership-track positions)
