Job Responsibilities:
As a State and Local Tax (SALT) Intern, you will be engaged in a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the financial health of organizations, both large and small. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Providing tax consulting services specific to state and local taxes, such as income, franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and personal property taxes.
- Preparing state and local income and franchise tax returns.
- Writing internal and external tax alerts on current tax developments and emerging planning techniques.
- Researching complex tax issues and providing conclusions through the creation of technical memoranda or verbal communication.
- Developing meaningful interactions with staff at all levels and with a diverse range of clients.
- Expanding your knowledge in state and local tax as well as federal tax.
- Participating in various training programs to enhance your understanding of taxes.
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for the role of State and Local Tax (SALT) Intern, applicants must meet the following educational and experience criteria:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting, or a master's degree in accounting or tax.
- Completion of the first two entry-level accounting courses and, at a minimum, current enrollment in the first intermediate-level accounting course.
- Demonstrated academic success with a minimum cumulative GPA of .
- Actively pursuing a LLM, JD, or CPA license.
Salary Information:
For applicants in Colorado and Illinois, the compensation for the State and Local Tax (SALT) Intern position is outlined as follows:
- Colorado monthly base range: $36 to $36
- Illinois monthly base range: $36 to $36
Additional Information:
This is a non-exempt position that may require work hours extending beyond the standard 40-hour work week. The role may also entail some local, national, and occasional international travel. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, except for qualified candidates who are bilingual in either Japanese and English or Chinese and English.
