Organization Description
The **Members Only** (CCE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the justice system in the District of Columbia. CCE works with a variety of stakeholders to conduct research, advocate for policy reform, educate the public, and increase civic engagement on justice-related issues. Their focus areas include the adult criminal legal system, youth justice systems, and civil justice/access to justice issues.
General Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the DC justice system, including local and federal elements and associated agencies
- Draft legislation, policies, and other public-facing documents related to the jury system, civil case processing, criminal and juvenile justice, and other topics
- Create educational materials and programs to increase community understanding of the justice systems and improve outcomes
- Provide support to various project committees through attending meetings, researching leads, and analyzing data
- Assist with report release events and other special events as needed
Qualifications
- Graduate or law students preferred
- Background in policy or legal research
- Interest in public policy, law, courts, civic engagement, government, journalism, public relations, or resource development
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
Availability
- Hybrid work opportunities available (in-person or remote)
- Local candidates preferred
- Three internship sessions offered: Spring, Summer, and Fall
- Full-time or part-time positions available ( hours per week or 20 hours per week)
