Job Title: Staff Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Staff Attorney for the Lasting Solutions Family Law Program at the organization is tasked with providing legal representation to low-income individuals who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This includes handling cases related to orders of protection, divorce, custody, and paternity within St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County. The role involves:
- Conducting all facets of family law litigation, which encompasses client interviews, drafting pleadings, discovery, fact-gathering, and courtroom advocacy.
- Managing a caseload of diverse domestic violence survivors.
- Performing legal research and analysis as necessary.
- Participating in community outreach and presentations in collaboration with the department team and community partners.
- Collaborating with Lasting Solutions’ staff, other organization programs, and community partners serving this population.
- Supervising law student interns.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be admitted to practice law in Missouri, or be eligible for admission. While experience in family law and working with survivors of domestic or sexual violence is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build relationships with clients and community programs across diverse lines, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, and citizenship status. Additionally, strong litigation, advocacy, communication skills, and a robust work ethic are essential. Salary Information:
The salary range for the Staff Attorney position is between $66,000 and $99,000, with the specific salary offered based on the candidate's experience. There are opportunities for advancement, including potential raises.
