Job Overview:
A top-tier law firm is seeking an experienced Employment & Labor Associate to join its Palo Alto office. This position is ideal for an attorney with 3–6 years of employment law experience who is interested in advising venture capital and investment firms on employment-related legal matters. The role includes close collaboration with the fund formation team and provides a strong opportunity to work at the intersection of employment law and emerging company investment practices. Some exposure to litigation is beneficial, but the primary focus will be on counseling and agreement drafting.

Location:

  • Palo Alto, California

Duties:

  • Advise venture capital firms and investors on employment law compliance and best practices

  • Collaborate with fund formation teams to support fund clients on employment matters

  • Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, and workplace policies

  • Provide strategic counseling on employment issues including terminations, compensation structures, and regulatory matters

  • Support employment-related aspects of transactions, due diligence, and internal audits

  • Assist in limited employment litigation matters, as needed

Requirements:

  • 3–6 years of experience in employment and labor law

  • Experience advising clients in the venture capital or investment sector preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex counseling matters for institutional clients

  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in California (or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of employment law and regulatory compliance

  • Excellent legal writing, communication, and analytical skills

  • Familiarity with employment issues common in investment firm environments

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across teams

  • Attention to detail and a client-focused approach
