Job Title: Deputy Attorney General II-V, Office of Unclaimed Property & State Lottery Office

Job Responsibilities:
The Deputy Attorney General (DAG) will serve in the Civil Division, Fiscal Integrity and Protection Unit, providing legal advice to the Office of Unclaimed Property and the State Lottery Office, divisions of the Delaware Department of Finance. The essential functions and responsibilities of the position include:

- Representing the State Escheator and the Office of Unclaimed Property in managing the State's Unclaimed Property program.
- Providing legal counsel related to unclaimed property reporting and examinations of corporate entities for compliance with the State’s escheat law.
- Offering legal advice concerning the processing and handling of claims for unclaimed property.
- Representing the State Escheator in claim appeal proceedings before the Tax Appeal Board, a quasi-judicial tribunal.
- Engaging in litigation on behalf of the State Escheator.
- Providing legal counsel on procurement and contracting, legislation and regulations, FOIA, personnel matters, and other relevant issues.
- Advising the State Lottery Office on legal matters related to procurement and contracting, multistate agreements for shared Internet gaming platforms, and licensing denials, suspensions, and revocations.
- Periodically filing or updating trademarks and providing advice concerning the exclusion of individuals from casinos and internet gaming.
- Handling additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the DAG position should possess the following qualifications and skills:

- Ability to take a proactive approach in assisting agency clients, identifying potential issues, and helping clients address such issues to minimize or avoid future legal action.
- Capability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with client agencies.
- Demonstrated legal ability and thorough knowledge of relevant laws.
- Excellent writing, research, and statutory interpretation skills.
- Proficiency in contract drafting, administrative law, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in gaming laws and regulations as well as litigating cases before an administrative hearing officer is helpful but not required.
- Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Deputy Attorney General (DAG) position is based on experience, skills, and the number of years barred. The salary ranges are as follows:

- Pay Grade A14 DAG II: Salary Range $87,822/min - $92,106/max
- Pay Grade A16 DAG III: Salary Range $96,997/min - $99,129/max
- Pay Grade A18 DAG IV: Salary Range $106,626/min - $108,737/max
- Pay Grade A20 DAG V: Salary Range $118,238/min - $122,920/max

Additional Information:
This position is exempt from the State of Delaware Merit System and may close before 3/27/2025 upon filling the vacant position. A satisfactory criminal background check and direct deposit of paychecks are required as conditions of hire. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
