Job Title: Law Reform Legal Intern - Fall 2025

Job Responsibilities:
The Law Reform Legal Intern will participate in the organization’s innovative work in impact litigation and policy initiatives aimed at addressing systemic issues affecting the organization’s clients. Interns will be assigned to one of the law reform units, which include the Criminal Defense Law Reform Team and its specific units such as the Incarcerated Client Services Unit. The responsibilities include:

- Engaging in impact litigation, policy reform, coalition building, and public education strategies.
- Conducting legal and factual research.
- Interviewing clients and participating in discovery and trial practices as opportunities arise.
- Contributing to the drafting of legal papers, policy memos, or legislative testimony.
- Ranking preferences for specific law reform units for assignment purposes.
- Collaborating with the assigned unit to meet the needs of the organization and its clients.

Education and Experience Information:
- Applicants must be 2L (second-year law students) or 3L (third-year law students) in good standing.
- Candidates should demonstrate an interest in issues affecting the rights of the organization’s clients, tailored to the unit(s) they prioritize.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills are required.
- The ability to analyze complex legal and policy issues is essential.
- Initiative and a commitment to racial and social justice are crucial for the role.

Salary Information:
- This intern position does not offer a salary.
- Eligible interns have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. This stipend supports 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship at the organization.

Stipend Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited institution.
- Completion of the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form during the internship application process is required.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship.
- A statement reflecting the student's strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation must be submitted.
