A highly respected, women-led law firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to support its employment law and workplace investigations practice. This position offers a remote work structure, low billable hour requirements (1,100 annually), and an outstanding work-life balance. The role involves advising employers on California employment law, conducting impartial investigations (including Title IX matters), and delivering workplace trainings. Location:

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to employers on California employment law and compliance

  • Conduct objective workplace investigations, including interviews, document review, and report writing

  • Lead and facilitate workplace trainings on harassment prevention, DEI, employee relations, and compliance topics

  • Draft, review, and revise employment-related documents, including policies, handbooks, agreements, and settlement terms

  • Conduct legal research and monitor developments in state and federal employment law

  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high-quality service and efficient workflow

  • Participate in firm initiatives including knowledge-sharing and blog content creation

  • Maintain accurate case files and documentation in line with internal protocols

Requirements:

  • 3–6 years of experience practicing California employment law

  • Prior experience in employer-side advice and counsel and workplace investigations

  • Strong organizational and case management skills

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to connect with individuals of diverse backgrounds

  • Spanish language fluency is a significant plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of California

  • Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (or willingness to obtain within first year)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, analysis, and report writing

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong facilitation and presentation abilities for workplace training

  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and neutrality

  • Comfortable using technology to streamline remote legal practice
