Financial Services Tax - Real Estate Manager
Job Responsibilities:
A career in the Financial Services Tax practice within Corporate Tax services offers the opportunity to assist clients in meeting their tax obligations while managing the impact of tax on their business. As a Manager, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on local and overseas tax affairs and acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing working capital, and profit sharing for partners.
- Helping organizations understand the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties and providing advice on the tax implications of deals.
- Assisting Financial Services clients in navigating the frequently changing and complex national and international tax environment related to stringent capital requirements, management of operational tax risks, and tax implications of investing in different jurisdictions.
- Developing new skills outside of your comfort zone and acting to resolve issues that prevent the team from working effectively.
- Coaching others, recognizing their strengths, and encouraging them to take ownership of their personal development.
- Analyzing complex ideas or proposals and building a range of meaningful recommendations.
- Using multiple sources of information, including broader stakeholder views, to develop solutions and recommendations.
- Addressing sub-standard work or work that does not meet the firm's/client's expectations.
- Using data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.
- Developing a point of view on key global trends and how they impact clients.
- Managing a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.
- Simplifying complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points.
- Upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree
- Required Fields of Study: Accounting
- Minimum Years of Experience: 4 years
Certification(s) Required:
- CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials may qualify for this opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of tax compliance methods, strategy consulting for Real Estate Investment Trusts, and Real Estate Partnerships.
- Considerable knowledge of partnership structures and their impact on real estate transactions and corresponding tax liabilities.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting of Unrelated Business Taxable Income.
- Comprehensive technical skills, including providing full services to real estate owners, developers, and investors such as publicly traded REITS, institutional real estate funds managed by financial institutions, and privately held real estate entities.
- Considerable experience identifying and addressing client needs: building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and community involvement; communicating value propositions; managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collections; and preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials.
- Considerable experience as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $98,300 - $266,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles that are based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range for this position. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
